DISCIPLINE

READ: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

1 Corinthians 9:27

A disciplined person is controlled, restrained, well organized and regimented. One of the greatest examples of discipline is Jesus who, in Matt 4:1, 2, fasted for forty days and nights. This achievement is not easily done. After fasting for three days one may feel the strain of hunger and self control.

The habit of disciplining yourself in prayer, fasting, and reading the bible will result in great achievements. I remember times of staying in one room and praying for long hours, basking in the presence of the Holy Spirit. This cannot be done without self discipline.

If you want to be a great person discipline is the key. There will not be any great accomplishments without great discipline.

Five Things Every Christian Should Be Disciplined About:

  1. A daily Quiet Time.
  2. To spend several hours in prayer.
  3. To read the Bible everyday.
  4. To fast regularly.
  5. To read books.
